Distinguished Career Award Nominations

Dear IDSOG Members,

It is a privilege to write to you in my role as President-Elect.

One of the greatest strengths of IDSOG is its membership. This community represents the individuals whom I admire the most.  Our membership is composed of individuals who, through both past and present contributions, shape how we care for women during times of infectious complications and public health threats. The work of this group extends far beyond individuals and institutions to influence clinical care, research, education, and policy at the highest levels.

In that spirit, we are pleased to invite nominations for the IDSOG Distinguished Career Award 2026. This award recognizes an individual whose lifetime work has been truly impactful, both in mentoring and developing the next generation of clinician-scientists and PhD scientists, and in advancing care, research, and/or policy within their community, region, or at a national level.

Nomination materials should include:

  • The nominee’s CV
  • A single, brief letter of support (one page maximum) outlining the candidate’s contributions and impact (multiple individuals may co-sign)

Please note that current members of the Executive Board or IDSOG Council are not eligible.

Past recipients of this award include:

  • 2025 – Jack Sobel, MD
  • 2022 – Dorothy Patton, PhD
  • 2019 – Deborah Money, CM, BSc, MD, FRCSC, FCAHS
  • 2016 – David Soper, MD

Not only are these individuals who have shaped our field, but they are the people who have shaped our careers, our communities, and, in many ways, our own lives. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on someone who has mentored or influenced you and consider recognizing them through this nomination process.

Thank you for your continued commitment to IDSOG and to the patients and communities we serve.

With appreciation,
Kim Fortner, MD
President-Elect, IDSOG
