Objectives of Organization

The activities of the organization are conducted for scientific purposes, for the advancement and promulgation of knowledge regarding the area of infectious diseases and for the facilitation of personal relationships among investigators in the subject of infectious diseases related to obstetrics and gynecology. Any qualified physician or biologist who is a member or an associate of a department of obstetrics and gynecology, within a teaching institution (college or university affiliated), and who meets the specific requirements of the Society for membership shall be eligible for nomination to membership.

Membership Requirements

Any qualified physician or biologist who is associated with an organization involved in women’s health or infectious diseases in women may be considered for membership. Prospective members must have demonstrated continuing individual interest and scientific productivity in the filed of infectious diseases in women through such vehicles as publication, teaching, focused practice or research, and/or service. Personal original presentation of research to the society at its annual meeting is also a requirement for membership. Prospective members must be sponsored and seconded by members in good standing of the Society.

Procedure

  1. Submit the application (PDF 9KB), bibliography, curriculum vitae, and (2) letters of sponsorship, anytime during the year to the administrative office, but preferably during the September-June time frame to allow for review.
  2. Materials are forwarded to the membership chair and committee for review.
  3. The membership committee makes its recommendation to Council for acceptance of the candidate at its annual meeting typically held in August of each year.
  4. At the annual Council meeting, approval is given for recommendations made by the membership committee. Announcement of approved candidates is given the following day at the Annual Business Meeting.
  5. Shortly after the Council meeting, a ballot is provided to all eligible voting members of the Society. A 2/3 majority of those voting is necessary for acceptance. Prospective members will be voted upon individually. Results are available after one month and all candidates are notified. A membership certificate is provided.
